Wild Plum's Fall Open House
(1st Sat. after Labor Day)
With Grass Valley being one of the prettiest towns for Fall colors this side of New England, it’s no wonder where we get our inspiration! We close the store, paper the windows, and have a blast as we go crazy decorating the store with wonderful Fall floral arrangements, garlands, gifts, and an assortment of seasonal treasures. When the store is finally reopened, we’re all exhausted from having so much fun but are quickly revived as our customers marvel at the transformation.

Like the Fall Open-House, the store is closed and the windows are papered as the transformation begins. I’m sure it must look like a bunch of kids opening presents on Christmas morning as we each unwrap merchandise and marvel as the treasure emerges from the box. The feeling early Saturday morning is a lot like Christmas morning when you’ve been up half the night assembling toys for the kids. You’re tired, but their excitement and joy as they open their presents makes it all worth while!

Grass Valley’s Cornish Christmas

Recapture the spirit of Christmas past amid the charming surroundings of historic downtown Grass Valley, California during the annual Cornish Christmas Celebration. Mill and W. Main Streets are closed to motorized traffic and filled with the sights and sounds of an old fashioned Christmas; carolers, jugglers, musicians, the Grass Valley Cornish Carol Choir, Tommyknocker Cloggers and, of course, Santa Claus. Handmade arts and craft from artists throughout California are displayed on the streets. Delicious food and drink can be purchased from a number of restaurants and specialty food.
